SHRI: A FASHION DOCUMENTARY

Shri: A Fashion Documentary Series was made in collaboration with her cousin Revati Dilip Borawake a fashion designer in 2010. This body was work is an exploration of female autonomy shown through her body as well as her thought which are represented in a surreal narrative.

By creating a gaze from the female to the female this work challenges the widespread objectification and misconceptions circumventing the female body and the fast changing Indian attire. Through the cross pollination of fashion and documentary, fact, fiction, color, black and white; Shri blurs the lines between a misunderstood truth and a make believe lie when concerning a woman’s search for a place across temporal expanse of time and culture.
